Daniel Akintonde felicitates People with Disabilities on international day celebration
Former Military Administrator of Ogun State,Col Daniel Akintonde(rtd) has felicitated with Joint National Association of People With Disabilities(JONAPWD) on the occasion of the International Day of Persons With Disabilities
Penpushing reports that, Akintonde known for his passion in addressing the challenges and welfare of the People With Disabilities and the less privileged on Saturday held a telephone conversation with the members of the association as they celebrate the day in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital
The former Military Administrator, it is recalled some twenty eight years ago as the helmsman of Ogun State took up the responsibilities of addressing the plight of Michael Ebonhor, then an undergraduate of College of Education in Ijebu-Ode, whose two eyes were plucked by suspected assassins.
Penpushing further reports that, Akintonde as the Military Administrator rose up to Ebonhor’s plight in ensuring that, he received the best medical attention, and rehabilitation which recorded positive result, and today the blind Ebonhor has attained an academic excellence having bagged a Phd
The retired army officer, to his credit and in appreciation of his passion in making life meaningful for the Peoples with Disabilities and less privileged, the Ogun State Government named a special school after him, known as Daniel Akintonde School for the Blind situated in Abeokuta, the State Capital
Penpushing also reports that, Akintonde while speaking with People With Disabilities during the ceremony enjoined them to always remained focus, and appreciated God roles in the life of Ebonhor, who is the chairman of the association in the state.
The former administrator explained that, Ebonhor is a good and living example of greater things ahead for People With Disabilities, adding that, others should equally be positive in forging ahead, inspite of what they may considered as challenges.
Penpushing reports that, he emphasized that, Ebonhor is a role model for others, stressing that with God all things are possible and would be done, adding that, the members of the association, should always put God first in everything they are doing
The former Military Administrator expressed optimism about good things ahead for members of the Joint National Association of People With Disabilities (JONAPWD) across the globe and to God to keep them going in the right direction
