Coronavirus: Seven suspected ‘almajiris’ from Kano state apprehended in Ogun state for violating interstate travel ban

Seven suspected almajiris have been apprehended   in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital for ignoring the Federal Government interstate travel ban, having  being confirmed to have entered Abeokuta from Kano.

Penpushing reports that, the apprehended illegal travelers were caught on Sunday evening at the Opic junction, Oke-Ilewo area of Abeokuta, claiming that they were in the town in search of menial job to make ends meet.

The boys whose age range between 16 and 20 confessed that, they came from Kano, and on arrival at Ogere axis of the Lagos-Expressway, resorted to trek to Abeokuta, which is about 40 minutes drive from Ogere.

Penpushing further reports that, the police operatives on surveillance duty noticed the suspicious movement of teenagers, and subsequently stopped them, while during interrogation discovered that they enter the state contrary to the Federal Government order.

The ‘travelers’ during interrogation claimed that they were not aware of the Federal Government  ban order on  interstate travel, emphasisng that, they were in Abeokuta, to search for a job of scavengers to make ends meet.

Penpushing also reports that, convinced by their illegal entry to the state, the police subsequently driven in police white colour pick up van to Ibara Divisional Police Headquarters, in Abeokuta,  at about 6.00pmfor further action, which is the handover to the committee on coronavirus  .

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this reports, efforts to reach the Commissioner for Health, Dr Tommy Coker proved abortive, while in the same vein, a member of committee of coronavirus in the state, Dr Kayode Soyinka could not be reach on phone
