Coronavirus: Oyo Police to enforce Government directives over ban on public gathering

The Oyo State Police Command, declared its readiness to enforced directives by the State and Federal Government over the ban on public gathering in order to prevent the spread of corona virus in the State.
Penpushing reports that the Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu disclosed this on Tuesday in a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP. Olugbenga Fadeyi, which was made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.
“In accordance with the directives, advise and instructions of both the Police leadership Inspector General of Police, Abubarkar Adamu, and the Governor of Oyo State Engr. Seyi Makinde, the advice on the closure of certain economic, religious, social and educational institutions needs to be obeyed without waiting for an unnecessary use of force or promptings from any security agencies”,thre statement said
“The security agencies will be embarking on routine visits and patrols to check the level of compliance at all levels as advised. We wishes to reiterates that the threat of COVID-19 on the societal cohesion is real and therefore, wishes to appeal to all members of the public for all hands to be on deck and act’,the statement added
“We are all aware of the seriousness of the current developments on all aspects of human endeavour, particularly the Social-economic lifestyles of our people.This will engender the necessary harmony to be able to collectively face the impending, pandemic of Corona virus that is not a respecter of any individual, social status, office or homes.”
Penpushing further reports that Olukolu however called on the people of the state to desist from spreading, damaging rumours, or posting unfounded stories and outright tissues of lies on the social media to prevent panic and disorder, urging them to co-operate with the government in its collective efforts to defeat the present Corona virus outbreak in our environment.
