Coronavirus: Ooni leads spiritual cleansing of Ife
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Thursday imposed a curfew known as ‘Oro” (a Yoruba traditional cult) on Ile- Ife for spiritual cleansing against the coronavirus pandemic which took place between 8 a.m and 6 p.m.
Penpushing reports that, the announcement was made through the palace town crier, Oyelami Awoyode, Wednesday evening, and this came two days after the monarch claimed to have a traditional cure for coronavirus. He said some African herbs will cure the disease.
The town crier in the announcement warned residents against working and walking in Ife with advice to stay home to avoid being used as sacrifice,stressing that the ‘oro” deity is no respecter of any individual irrespective of social status and whoever flouts the order would bear a grave consequence..
Penpushing further reports that the affected areas in the ancient town where the cleansing took place include Sabo, Ilare, Iremo, Oja-ife, Ita-Osun, Ita-agbon, Iloro, Ilode, Iwara, Isale-agbara, Arubidi, and Ondo-road among others.
