Coronavirus: Ooni donates locally made fumigator to Ogun state

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has donated two motorised modular fumigator to Ogun State government, with a call on Nigerians to protect themselves against the spread of Covid-19.

Penpushing reports that,the monarch who emphasised that the virus was indeed real, at the preesentation held at the Arcade Ground, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said the gesture was an initiative of the House of Oduduwa machine tools, assuring that the motorised modular fumigators, which were locally made, would be given to the 36 States of the Federation.

“Corona virus is real, and for a lot of people that probably think it is not real, it is real. People on social media are saying, why is the Ooni wearing the face mask? I have to lead by example, to tell the entire world that indeed, the virus is real and we should all protect ourselves”, he said.

The traditional ruler said  he was ready to personally deliver the fumigators to states across the federation, saying he might need help when he meets with any form of obstacle in the process.

“For the motorised molecular fumigator, we are looking at the 36 States of the Federation, but the major challenge is logistics, so, we are trying to cover the ones we can within our ambit, when we get to the point of meeting a brick wall, I will shout to the whole world for help”, he stated.

The State Governor, Prince  Dapo Abiodun in his response, described  Ogunwusi as a 21st century monarch, who was passionate about the cause of the Yoruba race and welfare of his people.

Penpushing further reports that, Abiodun pointed out that he was glad that the local economy was empowered through the motorised modular fumigator, which was locally manufactured.

“Your Royal Majesty, you are very much endowed with lots of wisdom. You’ve risen up to the occasion as usual, to support us with this equipment. We are very impressed that you’ve looked inward, engaged research people from the Obafemi Awolowo University to consult with you, provide the chemicals, the know-how, you’ve put our people together and this again speaks volume of the stuff you are made of, we are very grateful”, he said.

“I was honoured today by the august visit of our Royal Father, the Arole Oduduwa and Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi who donated 2 motorised modular fumigators as an individual effort to aid the containment of Coronavirus within Ogun State.

‘I disclosed to the 21st century Monarch that we are embarking on the distribution of palliatives to 20,000 poor and vulnerable youths across the 20 LGAs in the State, translating to about 1,000 per local government area’,he said’.

‘I am particularly impressed that Ooni has not limited this opportune gesture to Yoruba land but has extended it across regions. This complements what the private sector has done in supporting governments all over’,Abiodun said.

‘Our own Government, in its place, moved into action from the index COVID-19 case, putting in place precautionary measures that have resulted in the availability of state-of-the-art testing, isolation and treatment centres, all of which could not have been done without the love shown by concerned private citizens, religious and traditional leaders including the Òjájá II”,the Governor said
