Coronavirus: Ogun state government utilizes building donated by Obasanjo as Doctors quarters

The Ogun State Government has disclosed  that it has resolved to utilize the building donated by former President Olusegun Obasanjo as isolation centre for coronavirus patients in Abeokuta, as Doctors quarters on call duty for the benefits of patients of coronavirus.

Penpushing reports that, Governor Dapo Abiodun made this known late Friday evening, at a press conference held in his Iperu private residence in Remo North Local Government Area of the State, for update on the coronavirus and the lockdown order.

The Governor  said the government appreciates Obasanjo for the gesture, but explained that conversion of the building into Doctors call duty rooms, was as a result of pressure from residents of the area, who majority are elderly people and expressed worry that placing isolation centre in the community it’s a risk to their lives.

Penpushing further reports that, Abiodun disclosed,that government  bowed to pressure of the elderly, adding that “we got push back from residents of the area, claiming that majority of them are elderly persons, we have to listen to them”

The Governor said effective from May 1, residents of the state must compulsorily put on facemask, stressing that anybody caught without facemask would be arrested and subsequently taken to isolation centre for two weeks.

“From May 1, it is compulsory for residents to be wearing facemask. Anybody who failed to wear facemask, will be arrested and taking to isolation centre for fourteen days”, Abiodun declared

Penpushing also reports that, Abiodun  warned residents against transmitting and spreading fake news, declaring that anybody found wanting in that aspect shall face criminal charges, stressing that,”we would not tolerate propaganda of fake news in the state. Anybody found culpable of fake news are to be treated as saboteurs”
