Coronavirus: Ijebu traditional council puts ojude oba ceremony on hold

The Ijebu Traditional Council has put on hold the annual Ojude Oba ceremony,as part of effort to curtain the spread of coronavirus and abiding with the rules of social distancing.

Penpushing reports that, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona made this known, through Ijebu Regberegbe council platforms, explaining that all the arrangements by God’s grace will be tailored towards 2021.

The paramount rule disclosed that,the attires and others accessories would be kept till 2021 edition, and in same vein, enjoined those who are yet to make their payments as part of contributions to make the Ojude Oba 2020 to come to reality to do so.

The royal father stated  it is  known that  the annual dues, social welfare, and insurance premium are all tied to Ojude Oba payment, explaining that those that have made the payment would  not be charged for clothes , but are expected to pay other dues, such as Annual dues,  social welfare,  and insurance premium .

Penpushing further reports that a letter forwarded to the Ojude Oba planning committee signed by Ebumare of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Adenugba on behalf of Awujale of Ijebuland  said postponement order came from the first class monarch

‘On the instruction of our royal father, Kabiyesi  Alayeluwa, the Awujale of Ijebuland, HRM Oba Dr  Sikiru Adetona, I wish to inform you that due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the 2020 Ojude Oba ceremony  is hereby cancelled. Kindly help to pass the information round to all the horse riding families and members of the regberegbes’

 

The royal father emphasized that those who have failed  to make the payment of 2020 dues will have to make the full payment with addition of 2021 dues, and urged residents to religiously adhere,  and follow the safety measures put in place to curtain the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

 Penpushing also reports that, Awujale called on those with symptoms  to quickly seek help and prayed God for His safety on all his subjects, including various families resident in the ancient town
