The Commissioner whose attention was drawn to the eyesore condition of State Hospital Ifo, in Ifo Local Government Area of the State, which has no functional ambulance among other obsolete equipment, gave a pledge that the government will address all the shortcomings in the State medical facilities.
‘We are going to embark of visitation to our health facilities very soon, to ascertain number of medical equipment which requires urgent and immediate attention across the State, and I want to assure you we are going to do the needful in due course’, Coker affirmed
Penpushing further reports that, she said the Maternal Newborn and Child Health Week(MNCHW) will be flagg off by the wife of the Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun on January 6, adding that the implementation will commence in all health facilities spread across the twenty local government areas of the State between January 13-17.
The Commissioner-Designate noted that the benefits will be a 50% reduction in number of children dying from measles and other related diseases, as well as reduction in maternal death, just as she encouraged mothers and caregivers to ensure they avail their wards of the immense opportunity.
‘The National Council on Health at her 53rd meeting approved the bi-annual implementation of the maternal newborn and child health week nationwide to reduce the unacceptably high numbers of illness and deaths among women of child bearing age, children and newborn in the country’, Coker explained
‘The MNCH Week strategy is a week-long activity organized to deliver an integrated package of high impact preventive and curative health services which are cost effective and result-oriented. This run in conjuction with routine services at health facilities’, she said
