Controversial suspension of Kwankwaso is a failed adventure, says Peoples Democratic Party headquarters
The National Headquarters of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has faulted what it described as purported suspension of former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, saying the said ‘suspension’ holds no water.
Penpushing reports that, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologboniyan dismissed the said suspension of the chieftain of the party, who was alleged of thugery during the recent North-west zonal congress of the party in Kaduna State
The party in the suspension letter signed by the secretary in the state, H.A Tsanyawa, said it received numerous complaints from members of the party over the incident of North-west convention where Kwankwaso allegedly led his supporters into a shameful and embarrassing act.
Penpushing further reports that, in swift response to the controversial suspension, the leadership of the party in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), dismissed the circulated statement on the said suspension
The spokesman of the party declared in a counter statement that the purported suspension of Kwankwaso was the handi-work of some mischievous individuals, stressing that contrary to that, the former Governor was not on suspension as made to believe in some quarters.
“Our party frowns as such fabrications aimed at subverting the stability of our party and trigger disagreements and suspicions within our ranks. The PDP urges our leaders and teeming members in Kano state and Niger to be at alert, resist distractions and continue to work together.”
Penpushing also reports that, Ologboniyan in the statement declared that the controversial suspension was a fabrication of those behind the mischief, adding that it does not represent any organ of the party at any level.
The statement added that the provisions of the constitution of the party were very clear on the suspension of a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) if and when such occasion arose.
‘The party cautioned those behind the misleading claims to desist henceforth. The PDP will not accept such reckless adventure by such misguided individuals, which is capable of destabilising our party and bringing it to public disrepute.”
