Community Development Initiatives organise media training for effective reportage of sexual, gender based violence
A Non-Governmental Organisation, Community Development Initiatives(CDI) on Friday organised a media engagement for journalists to sensitize media professionals on Sexual and Gender Based Violence(SGBV) issues, as well as effective reporting strategies.
Penpushing reports that the engagement held at the Golden Hive Hotel, Conference Room, Oyins Resort, Ijebu-Ode town in Ogun State, as part of the objectives foster collaboration between media, civil society and policy makers, with focus on understanding sexual reproductive health rights and safe abortion.
The Executive Director of Community Development Initiatives(CDI), Felix Igbodipe in his welcome address disclosed that the programme tagged “Safe Approach to Life, Non Violence and Gender Equality’, was supported by Amplify Change
Penpushing further reports that Igbodipe explained that the incidences are monumental which are under reported, hence, need for the training for the media practitioners, pointing out that record equally has it that many have not even recognised their reproductive rights
The Executive Director emphasized that the programme was aimed to reduce gender based and sexual violence, just as he commended Ogun State Government for be proactive on Stop Termination of Progress(STOP)
‘We as Community Development Initiatives training, we are gathered here as stakeholders for constant and correct of reportage,so that community can be good for it. The programme is aimed to reduce gender based and sexual violence”, Igbodipe emphasized.
Penpushing also reports that at the physically attended training and equally joined by some other stakeholders outside through zoom, has one of the topics,”project deliverables and advocacy”, delivered by Chris Njoku, while Bukonla Odufowora was assigned to handle the topic,” understand sexual reproductive health rights’,
