Community accuses Nigerian government of deceit in implementation of cash transfer programme

The residents of some communities located in Odeda local government area of Ogun State have lodged complaint over Nigerian government’s inability to implement its safety Nets Scheme also called Cash Transfer programme.

Penpushing reports that  Vice Chairman Community Development Association(CDA), Kayode Bello made the allegation in a statement made available to journalists

The statement added that a leader from Aya community near Camp area within the council jurisdiction Mr Sesan Okanlawon lamented that the over 2000 residents are wondering if they’re being deceived.

Penpushing further reports that Bello added that the community leader explained that an official of the federal government came around to their community in early June to capture their data, including names address National Identification Number (NIN) and Biometric Verification Number (BVN) and bank account details, promising to get back to them soon, which they never did.

The statement added  that another resident, Mrs Afusat Bilesanmi of Kimileyin community disclosed that they were expecting to be paid by August in order to get some items for their wards before the new academic session.

Penpushing also reports that Bello said the woman maintained that over 30 communities and about 2,000 dwellers are affected, lamenting that it was painful that they were left unattended to, recalling that the officials who came around promised that they would be paid directly without any intermediaries to forestall any malpractices

The statement he stated that officials of Odeda Local Government council said they are not involved with the programme, claimed that it was project of the federal government and they were not involved
