Commissioner, unidentified woman found dead in Guest House
The Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement (RRR), in Borno State Ibrahim Garba, has been found dead Saturday found alongside a woman, in his guest house located in the 777-housing estate in Maiduguri.
Penpushing reports that sources said the woman whose identity was yet to be known as at the time of filing this report was discovered unconscious and later rushed to the hospital where she was thereafter confirmed dead.
The Borno State Governor’s spokesperson Isa Gusau, in a terse statement confirmed the death of the commissioner, while it was also learnt that as at the time of this report the corpses of the two are currently at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital where an autopsy is being conducted to ascertain the cause of their death.
‘Governor Babagana Umara Zulum received the news with intense shock and profound grief. The Governor mourns alongside the late commissioner’s family, other loved ones, friends, associates, and members of the state executive council”, he said
Penpushing further reports that the statement in same vein, confirmed that the Borno State Police Command has begun an immediate investigation into the death, adding that the Commissioner of Police had visited the house in Maiduguri where Garba was found.
The statement was, however, silent on the identity of the woman and could not provide details on the circumstances surrounding the commissioner’s death but offered prayers for his forgiveness and peaceful afterlife.
Penpushing also reports that the Police Command Public Relations Officer Kaminu Shatambaya equally confirmed the death of the commissioner who was a known key figure in government and a one time the Special Adviser on Special Projects before he was appointed commissioner
The police spokesperson, was however, silence on the identity of the woman, describing the incident as a tragic loss, adding that as at the time of filing this report, arrangement was ongoing to carry out autopsy on the corpses
“It was a tragic loss but for now, we are all at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital waiting for the autopsy result before any official statement from the police can be issued’, the police said in the statement.
