Commissioner of police Akwa Ibom state is dead

The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara has been reported dead while sources said he underwent prostate cancer surgery on Wednesday at a Lagos Hospital which later resulted in the death.

Penpushing reports that as at the time of filing this report Akwa Ibom Police Command Public Relations Officer Timfon John, when was yet to confirm the incident but said official statement from the family will be made available later

The death of the commissioner was, however, confirmed by another operative who works at the police headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia in Uyo, but similarly declined to give details because she is not permitted to speak on

Penpushing further reports that it is recalled that Ayilara in 2023 as Deputy Commissioner of Police in November of that year was unveiled as the Acting Commissioner of Police in Lagos, but later in February 2024 was deployed to head Akwa Ibom State Command.
