The attacks also led one soldier feared dead and six others currently missing which include a Commander, while sources also revealed that loss of “unquantifiable” combat equipment were recorded in the wake of the incident.

Penpushing further reports that, the two coordinated attacks were carried out by the terrorists at about the same time, 6 p.m, and these attacks followed an earlier one recorded, on May 22, on an Army base in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.

It is recalled that, the Gubio attack was on the camp housing the Nigerian Army 5 Brigade and the 159 Task Force Battalion, leaving at least one soldier killed and three others injured.

Penpushing also reports that, the bandits, who attacked the 192 Battalion reportedly launched from Alagarno forest in Damboa Local Government Area, operating in four Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) and 12-gun trucks.

The  troops were reported to initially dislodged the gang following, reinforcement from Maiduguri, about 30km away, as a result of withdrawal by the  terrorists, and it was learnt that, the terrorists burnt a T55 armoured tank, made away with two gun trucks, a canter truck, one armoured personnel carrier, mortal gun and unquantifiable ammunition.

Penpushing gathered from a source that, reorganisation of the camp was ongoing, while the Saturday attacks recorded completely dislodged with no reinforcement unlike the Delwa incident, and it was learnt that it was much easier operation for the Boko Haram and “had enough time to cart away arms and ammunition.”

The Army spokesperson, Sagir Musa, as at the time of filing this report was yet to confirm or make statement on the ugly development.
