Coalition is best option to stop Tinubu for second term, says Mark
The Interim leadership of African Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared that coalition is the best and only option to unseat President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027, to offer Nigerians alternative
Penpushing reports that Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, made this known during the unveiling of the congress as the platform for the coalition held in Abuja.
The interim boss boasted that the coalition of some opposition leaders, which fused into the party, spearheaded by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is determined on the project to stop Tinubu in 2027.
Penpushing further reports that Mark, who was Nigeria’s senate president between 2007 and 2015, was appointed the interim national chairman while a former governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, was named the interim national secretary, while a former Youth and Sport Minister, Bolaji Abdullahi, was named the spokesperson of the party.
The national officers of African Democratic Congress (ADC) including its National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, had earlier resigned their positions to allow for the emergence of the new leaders of the party.
Penpushing also reports that in another development a faction of African Democratic Congress (ADC) members, including youth and women leaders, rejected the appointments, calling them unconstitutional and lacking proper approval.
The aggrieved members declared and insisted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is not for sale and that no valid national convention or National Executive Council (NEC) endorsed the changes.
Penpushing reports that in the same vein, Presidential candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in 2023, Dumebi Kachikwu, equally condemned the takeover, arguing that the coalition violated party rules.
The Forum of African Democratic Congress (ADC) State chairmen despite the opposition, backed the coalition and said internal legal issues had been resolved in court, while other promoters of the coalition, apart from Atiku, include former Governors Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Rotimi Amsechi (Rivers), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Gabriel Suswam (Benue) and several others.
