Child Protection Network seeks collaboration with National Broadcasting Commission on child’s media programmes

The Child Protection Network (CPN), Nigeria has declared its interest to collaborate with National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) towards propagation of the children activities in the local media to showcase their talents

Penpushing reports that, National Coordinator of the Network, Olakunle Sanni made this known while speaking at the special workshop on children programmes organised by the commission with the theme ‘Content Inclusiveness in Digital Era’, held in Lagos.

The coordinator explained that the body will support and work with commission in ensuring child friendly contents become available again on radio and television stations, across the country, so that children from low income families or financially poor communities who doesn’t have access to satelite television stations in their homes can have access to these contents.

Penpushing further reports that, Sanni pointed out that the absence of child friendly content in the media  deny them the opportunity to have access to media contents that can aid there development, expressing  worry that the Nigerian society  does not place value on children and this has contributed to the lack of good media contents for children.

The officials of the network in attendance at the workshop include: Mrs Ngozi Okoro (immediate past national coordinator), Mrs. Risikat Yusuff (Assistant National Secretary), Mrs Aderonke Oyelakin (Lagos State Coordinator) and Mrs Bukola Owokodu (Ikorodu local government coordinator)
