KOGI WEST SENATORIAL POLL: ADEYEMI KICKS OUT MELAYE TO RETAIN SENATE SEAT

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), it is recalled had a week ago declared the election inconclusive following  the margin between  the duo, said to be  lower than the number of “registered voters in 53 polling units of the 20 registration areas in the zone where elections were cancelled.”

Penpushing further reports that,  after the initial election, Adeyemi and Melaye had respectively polled 80,118 and 59,548 votes, while the margin of 20,570 votes between the two candidates was far less than the 43,127 registered voters in the 53 polling units where elections were cancelled.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), therefore ordered a re-run following the development, which took place on Saturday, and led to the loss of the controversial Melaye, and paved way for Adeyemi to return to the Senate about five years after he lost the seat to  Melaye at the 2015 election.
