Chad’s President killed during battle against rebels

The  Chadian President Idriss Deby  who was re-elected for a sixth term in office recently has been killed on Tuesday while on the frontline during a battle against rebels who were advancing on the country’s capital, Ndjamena.

Penpushing reports that, the country military announced the death of Deby who came to power in 1990, and with his death, the constitution of the country expects the speaker of the parliament to take over, but sources said the armed forces has announced that a military council will supervise the transition.

Meanwhile, the army had earlier said it had beaten back a column of the fighters, killing some 300 of them.
