Cash scarcity: Traditional ruler denied access into banking hall

Penpushing reports that the royal father who arrived the bank premises located opposite the secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta in his Jeep car met on ground thousands of aggrieved customers who came to withdraw cash.

The monarch was hailed by the protesting customers on arrival, who in return waved his horsewhip in acknowledgment to their greetings, and thereafter moved towards the entrance of the banking hall with the aim that his position will pave way for him.

Penpushing further reports that as the monarch was knocking the entrance door to draw attention of his presence to the management, his efforts were completely ignored by the bank officials, who were monitoring happenings outside, through the Close Circuit Television (CCTV)

The aggrieved protesters were seen closed to the traditional ruler at the entrance, envisaging that if the door is open for the royal father, they would equally seized the opportunity to force their way into the banking hall.

Penpushing also reports that after 30-minutes of the monarch efforts to get into the banking hall failed, he was heard lamenting over the development, saying the experience was worrisome, and thereafter walked into his car and driven out by his driver.

The customers in their thousands had arrived at the bank premises as early as 6.30am with the aim of withdrawing money from their various accounts, but they were prevented from gaining access to the bank premises.

Penpushing reports that in anger the furious customers forced their way into the premises, shouting on top of their voices, a development which forced the management of the bank to address them, and pacify them that there were no available cash in the vaults to be dispensed.

The aggrieved customers, which include some nursing mothers, seen breastfeeding their babies however, embarked on a mild protest, insisting that they would not leave the bank premises until they collect money.

Penpushing further reports that number of them who spoke with Penpushing Media said they were fed up with the happenings over cash scarcity, claiming that they are the rightful owners of the money in their various accounts, and there is no justification for subjecting them to mental torture to get their money
