Cable Network News boss resigns over affair with colleague
The President of Cable News Network (CNN) a multinational news-based pay television channel with headquartered in Atlanta, United States of America (USA), Jeff Zucker, has resigned from after he didn’t disclose a romantic relationship with another senior executive at the company.
Penpushing reports that, Zucker took the decision on Wednesday in a memo to his colleagues that his relationship with network’s executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Allison Gollust came up during a probe into Chris Cuomo’s alleged sexual misconduct.
The Cable News Network(CNN) boss who has been at the helm of the affairs of the establishment for nine years, explained in the memo shared on Twitter by the Cable News Network(CNN), that he was asked about a consensual relationship with his closest colleague who he had worked with for over two decades, .
“As part of the investigation into Chris Cuomo’s tenure at (CNN) I was asked about a consensual relationship with my closest colleague, someone I have worked with for more than 20 years. I acknowledged the relationship evolved in recent years,” he wrote. “I was required to disclose it when it began but I didn’t. I was wrong. As a result, I am resigning today”, he said
Penpushing further reports that 56 year old Zucker joined Cable Network News (CNN) in 2013 from National Broadcasting Company (NBC) and got accolades for driving the network to ratings success in the run-up to the 2021 Presidential election
The Chief Marketing Officer, Allison Gollust in her own reaction declared that she remain working with the organization, explaining that she had been professional colleague and close friend with Zucker for over two decades
“Jeff and I have been close friends and professional partners for over 20 years. Recently, our relationship changed during COVID. I regret that we didn’t disclose it at the right time. I ‘m incredibly proud of my time at CNN and look forward to continuing the great work we do everyday.’’
Penpushing also reports that, the former boss at Cable Network News(CNN) got married to former Saturday Night Live producer Caryn Nathanson from 1996 to 2019 and relationship produced four children.
