Ogun state police command clampdown of landgrabbers, arrest 9 notorious suspects

The Ogun State Police Command has clamped down on landgrabbers with arrest of nine suspected notorious gang syndicate in Odosekolu village located along Epe expressway in Ijebu-Ode town of the state.

Penpushing reports that the Command Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola made this known on Wednesday while addressing journalists, adding that all arrested suspects would be charged to court on Thursday.

The police spokesperson gave identities of the suspects as include Akeem Rabiu, Ayodele Nureni, , Wasiu Olamilekan,,Abiodun Adeoye ,Samuel Abayomi, Sesan Badejo, Ademola Ajayi, Babafemi Badejo and Olabayo Jimoh

Penpushing further reports that recalling how the suspects were arrested, said following directive of the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu a team of command which include 71 Police Mobile Force(PMF), Anti-Robbery Squad, Ant-Cultism led by Omoseyoyin Adeniyi swooped into action

‘There was a breakthrough yesterday (August 1, 2023), when Assistant Commissioner of Police, the Area Commander, Ijebu-Ode, Omosoyin Adeniyi led a team of men from 71PM, Anti-Robbery Anti-Cultism team, SWAT   and patrol team from divisions and other area commands around Ijebu-Ode and 9 suspected landgrabbers were arrested from a community called Odosekolu village along Epe expressway in Ijebu-Ode’, she said

Penpushing further reports that Odutola said the suspects have been established to cause a lot of trouble, mayhem, forcefully going into peoples land and when they see workers on the site, they foment trouble on that particular site and thereafter chase people out with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.

The police imagemaker added that the suspects doesn’t stop at that, but also issued death threat on their victims, and that after forcing them out of the land, the suspects ended up in selling same land to different innocent buyers

‘They would brag and tell the workers on that land to leave the site or lose their lives , when they issued out such threat , the workers would not come back to that land again. So Ogun State command had such  a breakthrough yesterday The Commissioner of Police on his integrity had clamped down on the menace of this particular land grabbers’, she stated.

Penpushing also reports that Odutola emphasized that with the ages of the suspects which range between 30’s and 50’s they cannot claim ignorant of the law,  declaring that they would be charge to court without further delay

‘Remember of 5th July,2023 when CP Alamutu officially assume office, his maiden speech was emphatic and stated emphatically that his agenda was to come up, to clamp down on land grabbers, cultists, rape, illegal use of one way and kidnapping, armed robbery’, Odutola recalled.

‘He said a lot about violence crime and he also said he could count the landgabbers at the tip of his fingers, not just more than ten, and ever since he assumed office, you know that, he had bid the amnesty call for the cultists and I can attest to it that a lot of people have been coming to the command to denounce their membership and from different cult related activities, confraternity, and a lot of them have be saying that they don’t want to be members of , this deadly cult. And the same thing now happened with this issue of landgrabbers, so there was a breakthrough yesterday’, she said

‘We are using this opportunity, the Ogun State Police Commissioner Abiodun Alamutu  is also using this opportunity  to  warn and give strong  warning to issue a strong warning to the land grabbers , these people are going to be used as a scape goat to tell people to desist from  fomenting trouble , to desist  from obtaining money from people under false presence , to desist from stealing peoples money under the pretence of selling land  that have no documentation .The commissioner is also using this platform to say that the amnesty programme is still open’ Odutola emphasised.
