Bride allegedly stabs groom to death three days after wedding
A bride Zainab Muhammad has allegedly stabbed his husband, Abubakar Abdulkarim popularly known as Dan Gaske to death just three days after their wedding in Jibia, Katsina State
Penpushing reports that the couple got married on Thursday, November 20,2025, a marriage described by relatives as peaceful and consensual, but ironically turned tragic on Sunday when the groom was found dead with a deep cut to his neck.
The residents of Tashar Aibo community explained that the wife allegedly attacked her husband while he was asleep, who later seen wandering to a neighbour’s house asking for food, a behaviour that raised suspicion among elderly women who then followed her home.
Penpushing further reports that the residents stated that when they entered the house, they found the husband lifeless in a pool of blood, while a cousin of the deceased, Aminu Danladi, who spent time with the groom on the morning of the incident, described the tragedy as shocking.
The cousin disclosed that the couple alongside with him were planning a family visit scheduled for later in the evening, left home to freshen up and hours later, heard Abdulkarim had been killed.
Penpushing also reports that Danladi dismissed speculations that the marriage was forced, insisting the couple had a cordial relationship before their wedding, however, community members said the bride, believed to be in her 20s, was introduced to the groom by his nephew, who was her classmate at Government Girls Secondary School, Jibia.
The community source said the suspect had previously been married and divorced—a detail allegedly unknown to the groom’s family.
Penpushing reports that the Katsina State Police Command Public Relations Officer Abubakar Aliyu confirmed the killing and said one suspect is in custody, adding that the operatives. recovered the body from the couple’s home on Sunday afternoon.
The police spokesperson in a statement explained that the victim was found lying motionless in a pool of blood with a deep cut to his neck adding that he was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Penpushing further reports that the Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, has ordered a diligent and thorough investigation and urged members of the public with useful information to assist the authorities.
