
Bolt driver shot dead in Bayelsa
A middle-aged bolt driver whose identity is yet to be ascertain as at the time of filing this report has been shot dead on Friday at Samphino Road Junction, Kpansia suburb, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State Capital.
Penpushing reports that the corpse was discovered inside his vehicle, hence, residents within the scene vicinity raised the alarm, prompting police operatives to respond and subsequently quickly cordoned off the area.
Penpushing further reports that as at the time of filing this report the operatives of the police in the state have removed the corpse of the commercial driver and deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
The were of the opinion that the victim might have been shot at close range by suspected armed robbers, however, a senior police officer at the crime scene said the police have commenced investigation the killing.
“We are working to gather all necessary intelligence. Forensic teams have been deployed to the scene, and we are also liaising with the bolt company to retrieve trip data that may help track down the culprits,” he said.
Penpushing also reports that Bayelsa State Police Command Public Relations Officer Musa Mohammed, an assistant superintendent of police confirmed the incident disclosing that an investigation was already in progress.
