Bi-courtney Aviation Services supports Olori Janet Afolabi Foundation maiden adire festival

The Olori Janet Afolabi Foundation (OJAF) maiden Adire Festival in Apomu, headquarters of Isokan Local Government area of Osun State received a boost as a famous Aviation Company, Bi-Courtney Air Services threw its weight behind the programme.

Penpushing reports that the festival was held on Wednesday which was part of the activities marking the 60th birthday of the traditional ruler of the town, Apomu Kingdom, Oba Kayode Afolabi, Alapomu of Apomu.

The event designed and aimed to promote culture and empower indigent hard working youths who want to make a living through the making and sewing of Adire took place in August 9, 2023, was also  part of the activities marking the 60th birthday of the King of Apomu Kingdom, Oba Kayode Afolabi, Alapomu of Apomu and was well attended by number of participants and guests

Penpushing further reports that the monarch in his speech said the town is a historical site with cultural heritage and historical identity which dates back to the 16th century, and was one of the most important commercial centres in Yorubaland, with the oldest trans market in Yorubaland.

The 14th Alapomu of Apomu, however, encouraged the youths to take advantage of the historical background and be focused emphasizing that it should be known to them that they are the future of the town.

Penpushing also reports that in her own remarks Olori Janet Afolabi, who is the founder of the foundation said it is important to keep and maintain our local culture, arts crafts and clothes because they are our heritage.

The journalist and CNN award winner turned Olori pointed out that while promoting culture, it is a way and avenue in providing the youths with economic opportunities and a platform   to showcase their creativity and talents to the world.

Penpushing reports that the event was supported by Bi-courtney Aviation Services as parts of its efforts towards developing aviation tourism and cultural development in Nigeria, which is one of the activities of the Chairman of the company, Dr. Wale Babalakin, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in giving back to the society.

The legal luminary is known to develop the untapped cultural potentials for tourism development in different communities, and is a grass root person who believes in empowering communities economically thereby contributing to the overall GDP of Nigeria.
