BE OF GOOD CONDUCT DURING ELECTION DUTY, DIRECTOR GENERAL TELLS CORP MEMBERS
The Director-General represented by Mrs Francisca Olaleye, said that corps members are expected to make themselves proud as well as the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) before, during and after the election.
“In 2011, during the Kogi State election to be precise, some corps members were employed for the process and they did it well, so that led to the signing of MoU between the NYSC and INEC, also same exercise was done in 2015 and it was done well”
“You should be security conscious during the exercise, be careful with what you’re doing and you should not leave the polling unit without informing your assistant. Also, I will urge you to wear a cloth inside before wearing your NYSC vest in case of any necessity’,
“Secondly, you should not receive any gratification from anyone or any political party, but doing that, you’re not just dragging the name of your family into mud, you will be jailed for it, Also ensure that you did not collect food from anyone or any politician, and make sure you eat well before going to the venue of the election” .
Penpushing further reports that the Director-General advised the corps members to be disciplined as that is one of the objective of the scheme, stressing, “Don’t insult or fight anyone, and on the case of ballot snatching, give it to them, don’t fight anyone over it, because we don’t want you to be injured, then you will write your report and we will forward it to the appropriate quarter for action” .
The Director General, while speaking further, the also urged the corps members to be of good conduct and also promote the image of the scheme. “We have been in work with INEC since 2011, and that was regarded as the best election in Nigeria, so far, so please, be of good conduct as you go into the election process”.
