Be cautious of ravaging coronavirus during coverage, journalists leadership warn members
The leadership of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council has called on its members to be cautious in the course of coverage of the ravaging coronavirus, in view of the fact that they are at the forefront of advocacy and daily reportage of developments from the pandemic.
Penpushing reports that, Chairman Caretaker Committee of the Council, Mrs Omolola Adeyinka gave the caution note in a statement, establishing the fact that journalists are vulnerable, adding, ’more importantly for Journalists, we are at the forefront of advocacy and daily reportage of developments from this pandemic , hence we are vulnerable’.
‘I salute your courage Comrades and I just wish to check on you all .Dear colleagues please be safe during your coverages and other assignments at this critical period. Kindly take note of all precautionary measures advice by the health Authorities in office and at home’,she emphasised.
Penpushing further reports that, the Chairman who emphasized that, the press centre remained closed due to the disease and to avoid the spread to members , however, saluted the courage and patriotism of her members in this trying period.
‘Once again , I salute your courage and high sense of patriotism. Surely you all have remained a source of inspiration to Nigerians and Ogun State in particular. Iwe Irohin Press Centre remained closed for now, except for urgent matters, in conformity with the directives from the National office and the State Government’,Adeyinka stated.
