Be a leader, not a boss, customs comptroller charges newly promoted officers

The Comptroller of the Nigerian Custom Service, (NCS) Oyo/Osun Area Command, Uche Ngozi has charged the newly promoted officers of the command to always exhibit leadership qualities following attainment of new positions.

 Penpushing reports that the customs boss said this on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, while decorating some newly promoted officers of the command, adding that  the promotion served as a remark in acknowledging the hard work of the officers which they must leave up to expectations in their new rank because there is more challenges ahead of them.

“You have to lead by example, don’t act like a boss because your promotion is basically on merit, so you have to be a good leader that is worthy to emulate in whatever you are doing;, she charged

.

“To whom much is giving to, much is expected, only God promotes, be hard working, start making your preparation from now, follow due process, supervised and guide your subordinates because these are the responsibilities of good leaders’.

Penpushing further reports that Uche noted that the command has been enjoying one of the highest numbers of officers promotion, adding that a total numbers of 41 officers have been elevated to new ranks.

“Am proud of you anytime and anywhere, let us have humility and integrity, we cannot failed the Custom Service nor failed Nigerian, we need to leave up to expectations and keep the flag flying, make sure you dress well because the way you dress is the way you will be address’.

The customs boss however called on other officers who participated in the promotion examination but not elevated to have faith, saying that they should continue pursuing their education in order to advance which will add value to their career.

Penpushing also reports that while speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, the new Deputy Comptroller of Custom, Oyo/Osun Area Command, Peterson Akpan, appreciated the leadership gesture of the comptroller of the command, assuring her of their readiness to work hard and protect the good image of the command.

Meanwhile, the new officers promoted include: Deputy Comptroller Peterson Akpan, Assistant Comptroller Okutachi, and Deputy Superintendent of Customs, A. Adeleke, among others
