Baptist Boys High School old students plan N1billion uplift for college

The former students of Baptist Boys High School (BBHS), Abeokuta under the aegis of Old Boys Association have proposed N1billion to rejuvenate the school towards the centenary celebration scheduled to hold in January, 2023.

Penpushing reports that the Global President, Prof Olukayode Oyesiku made this at a press conference held at the college premises located at Oke-Saje area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital, adding that the association had put together a presidential dinner to raise the fund.
The President added that, so far, two of such dinner have been held and bankrolled by well meaning old boys,explaining that the move was to be supported by class sets and branches who were encouraged to contribute  a sum of N500,000 each, adding that other well meaning individuals also donated various sums
Penpushing further reports that, Oyesiku disclosed that at the conclusion of the dinner,a sum of N158.03million was raised both in cash and cheques, expressing optimism that the proposal will be met to reach the targeted projects.
“In order to rejuvenate the school towards the centenary celebration in January 2023,the old boys association put together a presidential dinner through which it proposed to raise N1bn. So far, two of such  dinner have been held and bankrolled only by well meaning old boys”, Oyesiku emphasized
” This move was to be supported by class sets and branches who were encouraged to contribute a sum of N500,000 each. Other well meaning individuals also donated various sums. At the conclusion of the dinner (first and second), a sum of N158.03m was raised both in cash and cheques”, he stated.
Penpushing also reports that, Oyesiku highlighted some projects earlier renovated and completed by the association which include the burnt Diamond Jubilee Library initially built by late Chief Moshood Abiola, who was old student of the college, adding that the library is currently being equipped with modern facilities
“The library which is currently being equipped with modern book shelves and books,reading tables and chairs as well as computer sets,has now become an edifice of pride which stood the school out among other secondary school in Ogun state”, he boasted
The global president added that some of achievements of the old students towards the college relevance also include  improvement of the school ranging from infrastructural and social Interventions to mentoring of the students, stressing that from the entrance of the school to its grounds and sports field, the unrelenting efforts of the association in the transformation of the school can be visibly seen
Penpushing reports that, Oyesiku said other exercise completed are: ultra modern assembly ground, science laboratory complex, administrative block,food vendor arena, boarders dining hall,and classrooms repair among others.
The association boss said other works under renovation,  and to be completed soon include:school hostel, clinic and health centre, construction of junior school administrative block, technical laboratory, adding that the association is also committed to supporting indigent students of the school.
