
Awujale’s transition is passing of a sovereign, says Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria
The Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) has mourned Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona who passed on Sunday at a London Hospital, describing his death as a passing of sovereign signaling the end of a glorious era,
Penpushing reports that the Executive Secretary of the organiosation, Dr Yemisi Bamgbose stated this in a statement captioned, ‘Awujale Adetona’s Transition: The Passing of a Sovereign’, adding that Adetona was the last monarch whose reign preceded the independence of Nigeria
The statement added that the late first-class traditional ruler was a true father figure of the ljebuland, and a pride of the Yorubas who was rightly adored as Orisa ljebu, while his influence transcends his domain

He was the doyen of traditional rulers, a true father figure of the ljebuland, and a pride of the Yorubas who was rightly adored as Orisa ljebu. The influence of Awujale Adetona transcends his domain, He was a Yoruba culture personified’, the statement stated.
‘The Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria joins Ijebu sons and daughters’ home and in diaspora and indeed the entire people of Ogun State to mourn the passage of a royal legend. We pray that the Almighty God will grant him eternal rest’, Bamgbose wrote.
