AWUJALE READS RIOT ACT TO POLITICIANS AT OJUDE OBA FESTIVAL
“I would like to say, with some emphasis, that our dear country, Nigeria, would do well to draw important lessons from an event such as this. We are one. Religion should not constitute a wedge or barrier between us.
This is what illustrious Ijebu people demonstrate to us yearly with this festival. Muslims, Christians and others can be found among us here today, and I understand that this is how it has been since the very beginning. “
Saraki who was in company of his wife and eight lawmakers said”Ojude Oba affirms that Nigeria’s cultures are veritable sources of revenue, if well packaged.”
However, Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun described the festival as a symbol of national unity which has become tourist attraction of people not only across the country but also outside the country, adding that it had become a rallying point for the Ijebu people.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Mrs Yetunde Onanuga congratulated the Awujale for the successful hosting of this year’s Ojude Oba festival, adding that “Ojude Oba is a celebration of a rich cultural heritage. It is an avenue for cultural re-awakening. It is a symbol of identity for Ijebu people all over the world. “
Meanwhile, Senators on Saraki’s entourage include: Dino Melaye, Ben Murray-Bruce, Biodun Olujimi, Sam Anyanwu, Rafiu Ibrahim, Duro Faseyi, and Shaba Lafiagi, as well as other dignatories such as former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former Deputy Governor of the State, Gbenga Kaka, Speaker Ogun State House of Assembly, Suraj Adekunbi, the Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, and Chairman, First City Monument Bank Plc, and Olori Omoba of Ijebuland, Subomi Balogun among others.
