Anglican seminarian allegedly rapes 10-year-old girl
A 34-year-old seminarian, Chukwudi Okoye of the Anglican Church Seminarian has allegedly raped a 10-year-old girl in Amanuke, a community in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Penpushing reports that a media aide to the State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, made this known in a statement on Tuesday adding that the suspect, allegedly raped the survivor in July while the incident was reported to the commissioner in August.
The media aide Chidimma Ikeanyionwu said the commissioner, through her ministry arrested the suspect, while a video clip showing the suspect speaking on the incident was uploaded on the commissioner’s Facebook page on Tuesday.
Penpushing further reports that the suspect who hails from Enugu Agidi in Njikoka Council Area of the state, in the video clip initially claimed he only fingered the survivor, adding that he asked the survivor and her friend to wash some plates when they visited him in his Amanuke residence.
The suspect in addition claimed that the survivor, after her colleague left, later came and laid on his bed before he removed her clothes and fingered her, but when told that the survivor said he raped her, he retorted in Igbo language, saying he fingered her.
Penpushing also reports that the seminarian pleaded asked for forgiveness and argued that what happened was the work of the devil adding that he did not penetrate the girl cunt because she was still small
The survivor (name withheld), in her account insisted that the suspect raped her at her graduation ceremony when he called her and her friend to come and wash plates for him, explaining that after finishing washing the plates, the suspect discharged her friend but asked her to stay back and play with him.
Penpushing reports that the survivor explained that the suspect subsequently took her to the bed, removed her clothes and raped her adding that she did not tell anyone of the incident immediately because the suspect had seriously threatened to deal with her if she told anyone.
The survivor’s grandmother was quoted saying that she became aware of the incident after the granddaughter got seriously sick about one week later, and took her to the suspect’s house after being informed of what happened.
Penpushing further reports that the commissioner disclosed that as at the time of filing this report the suspect has been handed over to the police for further investigation, adding that the suspect would be charged upon conclusion of the investigation.
