America poll: Joe Biden withdraws from presidential race, endorses Kamala Harris as democratic party nominee
The President of America Joe Biden has announced his withdrawal from the presidential race and subsequently nominated his Vice, Kamala Harris as the candidate of the Democratic Party, to face Donald Trump of the Republican Party at the November poll.
Penpushing reports that 81-year-old Biden who has faced criticism from members of his party for what many believe to be a cognitive decline due to his age, 81, in a post on X, explained it was in the interest of his party and the country to stand down from the race
“I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this’, he wrote
‘My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made’, Biden added
Penpushing further reports that the vice president has accepted the nomination and declared interest to run for president, adding that she was honoured to have Biden’s endorsement stressing that her intention is to earn and win this nomination.
“I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination. We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight. And together, we will win’, she said in a statement.
Penpushing also reports that top democrats including Bill, Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren have endorsed the 59-year-old Deputy President to represent the Democratic Party in the coming Presidential elections.
‘We are honoured to join the President in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do whatever we can to support her. Now is the time to support Kamala Harris and fight with everything we’ve got to elect her. America’s future depends”, Clintons said in a statement posted on X.
Penpushing reports that Warren on her own part expressed optimism that Harris can unite the Democratic Party to take on Trump, who is known to be the party’s major threat in the coming elections.
“I endorse Kamala Harris for President. She is a proven fighter who has been a national leader in safeguarding consumers and protecting access to abortion’, Warren posted on X.
