Alumni Association raises alarm over plot to impose rector for Ogun state polytechnic

The Alumni Association of Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, Ilese-Ijebu has raised alarm over plot by screening committee to clear a favoured candidate for the rectorship position of the institution, and called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to revisit the controversial development.

Penpushing reports that the National President of the association Olayiwola Olayide accompanied by members of the National Executive Council (NEC) raised the alarm and made the appeal at a press conference held on Monday at Press Centre, Iwe-Iroyin Abeokuta.

The old students said this call became necessary following different write ups, bloggings, and publications flying around following the Rectorship Screening of the institution, adding that there has been allegations and counter allegations

Penpushing further reports that the alumnus while emphasisng on their support for the Governor for his unprecedented transformation agenda in the area of education in the state which their Alma-mater has greatly benefited, noted that if not addressed may not project the image of the institution positively.

‘We would like to draw the attention of His Excellency to different write ups, bloggings, and publications flying around following the Rectorship Screening of our institution , there has been allegations and counter allegations which if not addressed may not project the image of our Alma Mater positively this which the Alumni Association has jealously guided’, the association said

‘We have read that the screening process have recommended a candidate in their best opinion but with the recent publications pointing to the fault in the recommendation is a thing to worry about and we wish you look into this critically Sir’,Olayide stressed.

‘Today being the 28th August ,2023. we have gathered here to witness the press conference premise on the state of affairs of our Alma mater and our resolve to reinstate our unflinching supports and to show appreciation to  His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR for his unprecedented transformation agenda in the area of Education in the state which our Alma Mater has greatly benefited’, the old students said

‘Your Excellency Sir, we are passionate and determine to give necessary supports to your government to bring rapid development to the oldest institution in Ogun State this we have demonstrated in the past by the donation of a Library, our resolve to complete the ongoing 500 seat capacity lecture hall we are currently undertaking’.

‘However, the Alumni Association is worried and disturbed by the ugly development especially at a time when our Alma Mater is getting the needed attention it deserve from the Government and on this note we are humbly appealing that His Excellency should critically look into the alleged screening process and give our Alma Mater the best hand that possesses the requirements as published’.

Penpushing also reports that the association while kicking against the alleged plot of imposition  argued that investigations conducted by them showed that the recommended candidate does not have post Doctorate experience since he just bagged his PhD after the closure of the submission of interest.

‘Sincerely Your Excellency, our investigations revealed that the recommended candidate does not have post Doctorate experience since he just bagged his PhD after the closure of the submission of interest’, the association stated.

‘We are not unaware that His Excellency has the final say on this issue but we are strongly appealing that Our Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR who is a patriotic man will look into this issue and use his good offices to ensure round peg is put into round hole for the betterment of our dear State, Ogun State’.

‘Conclusively, while we are calling all our Alumni both home and in diaspora to look back and give back to our Alma mater for the rapid growth of the institution, we passionately appeal to the government to assist more especially in the area of infrastructure such as ; Internal and external Road network, Construction of more lecture rooms and Hall, Facelift of the Hostel Accommodations, Equipment of the school clinic with modern medical facilities and personels etc. to meet with the required standard of her new status’.
