Alleged repentant Boko Haram member kills girlfriend for being impregnated by another man
A repentant Boko Haram member Muhammad Adamu said to have been enlisted in the army through the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), has allegedly murdered a woman at the Nigerian Army’s 82 Division Barracks in the state.
Penpushing reports that the murdered woman identified as Hauwakulu Tabra, was said to be Adamu’s girlfriend and said to be pregnant with another man, which angered the soldier who as at the time of filing this report has been arrested
The Nigerian army spokesperson, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, in reaction confirmed the ugly development but refuted claims that the suspect, a private in the army is a repented Boko Haram member
Penpushing further reports that Nwachukwu confirmed that Adamu murdered the woman on Thursday night explaining that as at the time of this report her corpse was discovered within the barracks premises on Friday.
‘Preliminary investigations revealed that the late Hauwakulu Tabra was murdered by the said soldier, who is presently in detention for further investigation to unravel the motive behind his actions’, Nwachukwu said.
“The Nigerian army has at no point in time, either in the past or present enlisted repentant Boko Haram members to its strength. However, considerations were given to the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) who, in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the North East, distinguished themselves morally and patriotically. Such members of the CJTF must have also shown commitment, dedication and loyalty to the service and the nation’, he said
Penpushing also reports that Nwachukwu stated that the army has extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and assured Nigerians that justice would be served as the army would not condone any unprofessional conduct or indiscipline within its ranks.
