
Alleged N189billion Fraud: Tambuwal regains freedom after one night of detention
The former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, who was detained on Monday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged fraudulent cash withdrawals totalling N189 billion has regained freedom, a day after being detained.
Penpushing reports that a source confirmed the release of Tambuwal who currently serve as Senator representing Sokoto South at the national assembly, adding that he has been discharged and left the anti-commission facility on Tuesday.

The former Governor served from 2015 to 2023, who switched from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the 2019 elections, and was elected to the Senate in 2023.
Penpushing further reports that Tambuwal, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives is a known key figure in the opposition coalition seeking to challenge President Tinubu in 2027.
