All Progressives Congress wins councillorship by-election in ogun state

The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has declared Hon.Abosede Adeyemi as the winner of the just concluded Councillorship bye-election in Ilado Ward 10, Odogbolu Local Government Area of the State.

Penpushing reports that a statement by Information Officer of the Commission Damilola Adeosun made available on Friday said Adeyemi of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won the by-election with a total vote of 939.

The statement explained that the bye-election was conducted to fill councillorship position after the demise of the former councilor Hon. Olufemi Taiwo, which had been declared vacant to complete the term.

Penpushing further reports that she said the bye-election took place in the 9 wards, including polling units in Ilado, in front of Ilado Social Club, Sibadewa Ilado, St Luke Primary School, Imodi  Ijasi, Odosenlu Market, Odosenlu, Open Space at Aba Tiwa Aba Soobo and  Open Space Akio.

The statement said others are St John Anglican Primary School, Ilado and Town Hall, Imodi Ijasi, Ward 10, Odogbolu Local Government Area of the State, in front of Ilado Social Club, Sibadewa Ilado, St Luke Primary School, Imodi  Ijasi, Odosenlu Market, Odosenlu, Open Space at Aba Tiwa Aba Soobo, Open Space Akio, St John Anglican Primary School, Ilado and Town Hall, Imodi Ijasi.

Penpushing also reports that Chairman, electoral commission, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu   after declaration of the winner expressed satisfaction at the success recorded by the electoral umpire, attributing it to adequate planning and due process by the commission ahead of the bye-election.

The statement added that the Chairman represented, by Mrs. Gbemi Onasanya, a commissioner at the commission congratulated the newly elected councilor, Hon. Abosede Adeyemi, for emerging victorious in the bye-election.

Penpushing reports that in his contribution, a member of the House of Representatives, representing Odogbolu, Ijebu-Ode, and Ijebu North-East, Local Government Area, Hon. Femi Ogunbanwo, commended the electoral commission for a job well done.

The federal lawmaker pointed out that the election process was seamless, adding that voters came out en-masse to exercise their franchise, and in the same vein congratulated the councillor Elect, urging her to see her victory as a call to serve and not for personal interest.

Penpushing further reports that speaking after the exercise, Chairman Odogbolu Local Government, Hon Shuaib Ladejobi noted that the election was highly commendable, stating that the process was hitch-free and that voters turned out in their numbers to vote and congratulate the councilor elect.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Local government, Hon. Muyiwa Idowu, in his remarks congratulated all party chieftains for winning the bye-election in Ilado Ward 10 and appreciated election umpire for conducting a free and fair election.
