Penpushing recalled that, the preferred aspirant of the Governor, a serving member House of Representatives, Abiodun Akinlade was produced by the faction of the party, a development another faction kicked against.

The other faction alleged Governor Amosun of selfish interest, having failed to carry along other stakeholders of the party, and therefore organized a parallel congress conducted by the National Working Committee (NWC) which produced Dapo Abiodun.

Penpushing reports that, the Muhammed Ndabawa-led electoral committee of All Progress Congress (APC), which conducted the primary declared Dapo Abiodun the winner, having polled 102,305 votes while his opponents Jimi Lawal scored 51,153, Kunle Akinlade – 23, 443, Bimbo Ashiru – 29, 764, Adegbenga Kaka – 17, 771 and Abayomi Hunyen – 9, 610.
