Alake of Egbaland supports creation of state police

The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland Oba Adedotun Gbadebo on Monday supported the proposed creation of state police, adding that crime is local which also need local solutions with the creation of state police.
Penpushing reports that Gbadebo gave the support at a press conference held at his palace in Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital in preparatory for the 37th Lisabi Festival scheduled to hold between February 26-March 10, 2024.
The monarch justifying his position explained that a man resident in Kano cannot know what is happening in Abeokuta, emphasizing that it is those who resident in a community who knows the terrain, and in advantage position to checkmate what is going on in their vicinity and territory.
‘It is said that crime is local, so if crime is local, we must find local solution to it. A man living in Kano cannot know what is happening in Abeokuta. There is nothing wrong in having state police, it will make it better to fight crimes and criminals’, he stated.
Penpushing further reports that Gbadebo, however, cautioned against using the institution as political tools by those in power, stressing that these should be completely avoided in the interest of the establishment.
The royal father on the festival disclosed that the theme of the edition is ‘Encouraging Youths in Agric Business: Panacea for Solving Youths Unemployment in Egbaland’, explaining that it was conceived to address salient basic necessity in the land.
Penpushing also reports that Gbadebo explained that in addition the theme was conceived on the need to resuscitate, rejuvenated, reclaim and fully utilize the potentials of agriculture towards arresting youth unemployment, with the aim of engendering massive youth empowerment and development of Egbaland
‘In line with this, I wish to implore all our teeming youths and everyone to leverage on the unique programme of the events of the 37th Lisabi Festival to turn around the economy of our dear motherland for individual and collective prosperity’, Alake stated
Penpushing reports that he added that the festival is an historic and cultural celebration of great hero, Lisabi Agbongbo Akala and glamorous showcase of the richly endowed culture of Egbaland, imploring all and sundry to celebrate, socially integrate and interact towards enduring fruitful development, peace and progress of Egbaland
The monarch said there is a pre-event ceremony coming on Friday, March 1, 2024 which is a special luncheon and awards for excellence to deserving Egba sons and daughters who have contributed immensely to the development of Egbaland in particular and Nigeria
