Akwa-Ibom state coordinator of national youth service corps, driver missing

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has declared the Akwa Ibom State coordinator, Okun Christopher, and his driver, Daniel Asibong, missing, explaining that the two staff members were abducted while traveling from Akwa Ibom to Delta State for an official assignment.

Penpushing reports that spokesperson of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Eddy Megwa made this known to journalists on Wednesday, explaining that the incident occurred on July 29, 2024, affirming that the victims were abducted during the journey.

The spokesperson expressed concern that despite the National Youth Service (NYSC) authorities’ efforts, the officials whereabouts was yet unknown, and appealed to members of the public with useful information to contact the establishment offices in any of the states or nearest police station

‘Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts should contact any of the 37 NYSC state secretariats, area offices, the National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, or the nearest police station or security agency for prompt action’, Megwa said.

Penpushing further reports that the Akwa Ibom Police Command Public Relations Officer Timfon John, when contacted as at the time of filing this report said the command had not received any report about the missing officials.

The Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe,in the same vein, denied knowledge of the incident, nor any record of kidnapping in the state and environs as at the time of filing this report

‘If he was travelling from Akwa Ibom to Delta State, and perhaps he was kidnapped in Akwa Ibom or Imo how is that my business in Delta? We’ve not recorded such kidnapping in Delta’, Edafe, a Superintendent of Police declared.
