Akeredolu’s body arrives Nigeria from Germany
The remains of late Governor of Ondo State Rotimi Akeredolu were received on Friday by family members after arriving Nigeria from Germany where he passed after a battle with prostate cancer and leukemia
Penpushing reports that Chief Press Secretary to the deceased Richard Olatunde made this known in a statement, adding that the plane conveying the late Governor arrived the country at about 3.39pm, and was received by the widow, Betty Akeredolu alongside children, and siblings, led by Wole Akeredolu, immediate younger brother of the deceased.
The statement added that others who received the body include Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde; Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbi Talabi; and a representative of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
Penpushing further reports that equally at airport to receive the corpse were Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Ade Adetimehin; a member of the House of Representatives, Gboyega Adefarati, and some members of the Ondo State Executive Council, led by the Secretary to the State Government, Oladunni Odu.
The statement disclosed that Akeredolu’s remains as at the time of filing this report have been deposited at the morgue until the final burial, adding that details of the burial arrangements will be announced by the family at a later date.
Penpushing also reports that on receipt of the corpse at the airport family members, followers, friends, and associates could not hold back their emotions as Akeredolu’s remains were being lowered from the plane.
