Akeredolu becomes 5th Nigerian governor to test positive for coronavirus

The Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus, and with this development he becomes the fifth sitting Governor to test positive for the ravaging virus

Penpushing reports that, Akeredolu who is currently on a political face-off with his Deputy made this known on Tuesday on his Twitter handle, saying, “I tested positive for #COVID19. All is well. I’m asymptomatic and have been self-isolating. Work continues. Your continued prayers over my well being are most appreciated.”

The record has it that some of the Governors who had tested positive include: Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Seyi Makinde of Oyo and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia and, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta

Penpushing further reports that, in similar development some other governors after coming in contact with infected people also embarked on self isolation, and they include:, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti and Godwin Obaseki of Edo, but later tested negative for the disease.

Meanwhile, the immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, who died last week from complications triggered by the disease was buried on Sunday at his private residence in Ibadan .
