Aiyedatiwa’s campaign coordinator shot dead ahead of governorship election in ondo state
The campaign coordinator of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ahead of the Governorship election in Ondo State, Alaba Abbey has been shot dead days after the conclusion of the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Penpushing reports that Abbey a leading member of the campaign organisation, Alaba Abbey, was assassinated at his home in Supare Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area on Saturday by yet-to-be-identified assailants
The late Abbey was a ward coordinator for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot-Soldiers (LACO-SF), and was equally the returning officer for the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary at his Ward 10 in the council.
Penpushing further reports that the deceased elder brother who confirmed the sad development explained that he was killed in front of his house on Saturday night around 9 p.m. shortly after returning home.
The Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation(LACO-SF) in a statement has condemned the gruesome murder of its member, urging the police authorities to protect its members from such attacks by unknown assailants.
Penpushing also reports that Information Director of the organisation, Kayode Fasua, in the statement pointed out that the deceased was actively involved in campaigning for the election of Governor Aiyedatiwa until his untimely demise, describing the incident as a shocking tragedy.
‘Excel had been a resourceful coordinator for the Aiyedatiwa campaign organisation in Ward 10 of Supare and was never known to be violent and never had any history of a local or domestic dispute. We urge the police authorities to step up investigations into his gruesome murder and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book’, the statement reads
Penpushing reports that Ondo State Police Command Public Relations Officer Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya confirmed the incident, adding that the command was aware of the incident and that investigation was ongoing to unravel all that happened,” she said.
