Adegoke’s murder: Appeal Court upholds death sentence of popular hotelier Ramon Adedoyin

The Appeal Court in Akure, Ondo State, has upheld the death sentence of Ramon Adedoyin the owner of Hilton Hotels, Ile-Ife, Osun State for his role in the murder of Timothy Adegoke, a graduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Penpushing reports that the verdict upholds a lower court’s earlier decision and brings a measure of closure to a case that has gripped the nation, while it is recalled that the appellate court had reserved judgment on the matter since October 29, 2024.

‘The judgment of the High Court of Osun State stands. Adedoyin’s appeal is dismissed in part. The Court of Appeal held that Adedoyin was properly convicted and sentenced to death’, the appeal court judgment reads

The appeal court, however, set aside some of the decisions of the lower court, which include order of forfeiture of Hilton Hotel quashed and set aside, order of education scholarship to children of Timothy Adegoke by Adedoyin and others quashed and set aside.

Penpushing further reports that it is recalled that Adegoke on November 5, 2021 arrived at Ile-Ife to sit for his Master of Business Administration examinations, having arranged to stay at the Hilton Hotels and Resorts, owned by Adedoyin, while in Ile-Ife.

The 37-year-old student. however, suddenly disappeared, a development which sparked widespread concern when all contact with him was lost 48 hours later, while he was later declared missing by the police, but the body was later found in a shallow grave following an investigation by the police.

Penpushing also reports thereafter the police arrested and charged Adedoyin and six members of his staff, identified as Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem, Adebayo Kunle, and Adedeji Adesola to court for the murder of Adegoge.

Meanwhile, it is recalled that the Osun State High Court judge, Justice Oyebola Ojo found Adedoyin and three others guilty of the charge and sentenced them to death by hanging.
