ACHUDUME CALLS FOR REDUCTION IN NUMBER OF POLITICAL PARTIES IN NIGERIA

‘If our political parties are narrow down to three or four it will be better for us. May be we have to enforce our democracy to suit us.  Passion for people, love for people will move the nation forward. I want to submit that the only achievement we have is unbroken democracy, but welfare of the people yet to be achieved. We can only celebrate democracy when  welfare of the governed is well taken care of by the government’

The Cleric noted that, the multicity of political parties causes confusion, and also become burden for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while electorates in return end up becoming victims of bad governance.

Penpushing further reports that, numbers of politicians are not self-disciplined but exhibit selfish interest, prompting them to leave one party to another if they failed to realized their selfish interest in a particular they belong

‘Look at our political system, nobody wants to serve but everybody wants to lead, which causes confusion, this became burden for INEC, the electorates end up becoming victims. What type of democracy are we practicing, is it British or America, political parties have no ideology, no discipline in the party, if politician find it difficult to get what they want in a party they belong, they move to another political party’

The renowned clergyman also noted that it is when things went wrong that government return to the clergymen, adding that this has become burden to the clerics, stressing that news about Nigerian remain scaring, with a plea to those in authority to rise up to need to bring back lost glory of the country.
