72 year old man arrested over alleged defilement of 7 year old girl
A 72 year old man, Ishola Tijani has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for alleged defilement of a seven old girl (name withheld) in Iperu town, Ikenne local government area of the State.
Penpushing reports that, the Command Public Relations Officer Abimbola Oyeyemi made this known on Saturday, adding that the suspect was arrested following a report by the mother of the victim who reported at Iperu police station that she went out only for her to return and found her daughter feeling uncomfortable.
The police said the mother explained that she made an enquiry from the little girl, who explained to her that it was the old man who lured her into his room and forcefully had sex with her.
“Upon the report the DPO Iperu division quickly detailed his detectives to the scene where the randy old man was promptly arrested. The victim was taken to an hospital where it was confirmed that the girl has been actually defiled. The suspect has made confessional statement admitting the commission of the offence” Oyeyemi said
The Commissioner of Police Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
Penpushing further reports that , the police boss also appealed to parents to always be mindful of who to entrust their children to safe them from those who are out looking for innocent children to devour.
The Child Protection Network (CPN), Ogun State Chapter while reacting to the development, frowned at the ridiculous conduct of the aged man, stressing that, the case shall be religiously followed.
Penpushing also reports that, the Coordinator of the Network, Alfred Soleye while with journalists at Ant- Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department where the suspect was being interrogated said the Network, as part of its responsibilities will ensure justice prevail on the issue, so that the innocent victim will not suffer the trauma
