Ilyasu added further that, the victim was chained by the grandmother with the consent of the biological mother, adding that, the duo alleged that, the boy was stubborn, and they therefore , decided  to chain him down inside the room for months.

Speaking further, the police boss said it was a case of child abuse and inhuman treatment, adding that the victim was tied down like criminal, and said to be defecating on the spot.

In an interview, biological mother of the victim, Yomi confessed that, she was in the know of how and why the boy was being chained, adding that, he is fond of running away from home, a development which she could not proffer solution to.

The auxillary nurse, mother of three, said she had parted way with the victim’s father over seven  years ago, within the period the boy was staying with his grandmother in Sagamu, but was recently return to her few months ago.

The 33 year old mother  explained that, after  days staying with her, the boy ran away from home for number of times, and as she could not cope again, searching for her each time, as soon as she got hold of him again, she resorted to relocate him to her mother(grandmother) at Obada-Oko town.

According to her,the woman said disturbed by  stubborn nature of the boy, she suggested need to keep him indoor with the use of chain, which was used to tie him on   steel chair, confessing that, she was one who bought the chain.

She said, her mother was just being magnanimous towards her plight about the child, that she agreed to chained the boy inside the room, but said the victim was not maltreated as made to believe in some quarters.

The grandmother, in her own account also disclosed that, the stubborn nature of the boy, was responsible for her action, and never knew it was criminal to do that, rather, her thought was that, the development would make the boy to turn a new leaf.
