24HRS TO NEW YEAR: 5 KILLED, 13 SERIOUSLY INJURED IN AUTO CRASH ON LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY
The commission officer said eighteen passengers were involved, which include; nine males, three females and six children, adding that the accident was caused by overspeeding of the commercial bus driver who was heading to Lagos with the passengers
Okpe stated further that the driver of the commercial bus travelling from Ibadan to Lagos lost control and coupled with the speed of his bus it veered off the road to collide with a trailer parked off the highway.
‘Immediately the incident happened the driver of the commercial bus ran away. A man hunt has been made to arrest the driver and charge him for dangerous driving leading to the death of some of his passengers’, she declared.
The FRSC route commander said, the injured victims have being taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital(OOUTH), Sagamu and Victory Hospital, Ogere for medical attention, while the corpses of the dead passengers were deposited at the morgueof General Hospital,Ipara.
