2023 poll: Amosun dares all progressives’ congress, presents opposition governorship candidate

The former Governor of Ogun State and chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ibikunle Amosun on Wednesday dared his party, and openly presented an opposition party, African Democratic Congress(ADC) Governorship Candidate, Biyi Otegbeye as candidate he would work for in the forthcoming March Governorship election.

Penpushing reports that Amosun who led the campaign flag off of African Democratic Congress (ADC) held at Alake Palace Ground in Abeokuta, declared that Otegbeye was his own anointed candidate who should be voted into power to take over from his (Amosun) successor Prince Dapo Abiodun

‘I am APC member, but I will work for ADC Governorship candidate. This is my anointed candidate. God on our side, we will win, and for the President, we would vote for Tinubu of APC. Why I am here today is to support Ogun West Governorship Candidate’, he said.

Penpushing further reports that Amosun who stepped down for Bola Tinubu during the presidential primary of All Progressives Congress (APC), explained that decision to step down was because he was of the conviction that presidency should be the turn of the South-West

The former governor said in similar vein, at the Ogun State level he was of the opinion that the Governorship slot should now be turn of the Ogun West, arguing that since the creation of the state over 40 years ago, the zone has not have opportunity to rule the state.

Penpushing also reports that he posited that it is the time for the zone to produce governor for the state, adding that he believes in equality, justice and fairplay, and that he is interested in progress of the state

The former Governor after the flag off rally led members of the African Democratic Congress(ADC) on kilometers walk in the Abeokuta metropolis, with members of the party seen carrying banners and flag of the party, as well as posters of candidates for various political positions

Penpushing reports that some notable politicians at the ceremony include Chief (Mrs) Iyabo Anisulowo, Otunba Rotimi Paseda, Derin Adebiyi, Femi Allen-Taylor, Taiwo Adeoluwa, Hon Micky Kazzim, Kunle Elegbede and Senator Tolu Odebiyi among others
