2019: I DIDN’T RECEIVE INVITATION TO ATTEND PEACE ACCORD MEETING-ATIKU ABUBAKAR
However, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) flagbearer, through his spokesperson, Paul Ibe in clarification over the absence of his boss said, “I can confirm” that Mr Abubakar did not receive any formal invitation to the signing of the peace pact,”
Penpushing further reports that, at the event, some Presidential candidates were said to be present alongside Buhari, who is the Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), but many others which include; Omoyele Sowore, the Presidential of African Action Congress (AAC), Kingsley Moghalu and Oby Ezekwesili were also absent, claiming that they did not receive any invitation to that effect
However, in reaction, one of the proponents of the accord, Matthew Kukah, a Catholic Bishop, faulted the excuse of Abubakar, stating that the committee “absolutely” sent invitation him, being the main challenger to Buhari at the general elections coming up in February.
Penpushing recalled that, Abdulsalami Abubakar and Matthew Kukah led Presidential candidates to sign a similar accord in 2015, a measure that was widely deemed crucial to the peaceful outcome of that contentious election.
