2019: FORMER OGUN GOVERNOR, OSOBA APPOINTS CHAIRMAN ADVISORY COUNCIL OF DAPO ABIODUN CAMPAIGN TEAM
The meeting also named former Deputy Governor under the first term of Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Segun Adesegun as Director-General of the Campaign Organisation of Governorship Candidate of the party ahead of the 2019 general election.
Similarly, the immediate past Commissioner for Commerce under administration of the outgoing Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru was appointed as the Director of Finance for the Dapo Abiodun Campaign Organisation
Penpushing further reports that, the Campaign Organisation which is expected to kick start operations on December 2, also announced various sub-committees, which include, Administration, Special Duties, Planning and Strategy, Media and Publicity, Welfare Services, Women Affairs, Protocol, Mobilization and Contact, Reconciliation and Conflict Resolution, and Programme and Event among others
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Dapo Abiodun explained that the meeting was aimed to begin the structure behind the project, which is to govern the state effective from next year, adding that the outgoing Governor has done his bit
‘We are here today to begin the structure behind the project. The project is to govern Ogun State. I want to appreciate the incumbent Governor who is a friend of mine. We may have differences but that does not remove the fact that we are both members of one party and that is APC. He is a very good Governor by far, he has done very well in the State’,Abiodun said .
He said, he would build on what Governor Amosun has done, with a promise of good governance if elected as the next Governor of the State, adding that his administration will focus on improving the lives of the residents
‘I will build on what Amosun has done. If elected in 2019 by the grace of God, we are promising the people of Ogun State good governance, we are going to focus on improving the lives of our civil servants, we will come up with programmes that will encourage developments that are good to them, we will focus on agriculture because we believe that by so doing we will create jobs for our teeming youths’.
‘We are determined to ensure that in the first year of our government they will be feeding in Lagos from Ogun State. Coming from the oil and gas background I understand how to generate power, we are going to encourage good power supply by so doing we will attract foreign and local industries and for people to come and invest in our State’.
‘We will also look at the education sector, we will make sure that there is free education for students to a particular level, we will also encourage welfare for women, our aged and disable. We are ready for the election and we are prepared for any opposition’.
He called on members of the ruling All Progressives Congress,(APC), to imbibe the spirit of togetherness and remain as one party, disclosing that, the Deputy Governorship Candidate would be unveil in the next few days, who he said would be from Ogun West Senatorial District.
